Asia-Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society

Dear friends and colleagues

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it gives me great pleasure and honor to invite you to the 8th Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society (APOTS) Meeting in Bali, Indonesia which will be held from November 8-10, 2024. A long overdue process due to border closure from the COVID-19 pandemic. This meeting will be held with the Indonesian Ophthalmologist Association (IOA) as the supporting organization, in lieu of its goal of promoting eye health and the development of ophthalmology in Indonesia.

Ophthalmic trauma represents a frequent cause of emergency ophthalmic visits and has a significant impact on suffering, quality of life impairment, and the reduction of workability. We have invited many prestige speakers who have had outstanding and major impacts in the field of ophthalmic trauma management to share their experiences. Through the education, practice, research, and learning of the development of management ophthalmic trauma in the world, I expect not only to have a deeper understanding of it but also to help all participants further establish, develop, and execute the appropriate management of ophthalmic trauma based on medical context. We are honored to be given this opportunity to host the APOTS 2024 meeting. We welcome ophthalmologists and ophthalmic-allied health professionals from all over the world to join the meeting focusing on: “Defying obstacles, preserving the Eye in Ophthalmic Trauma”.

The APOTS meeting also provides participants with an excellent opportunity to build networks, collaborate with peers and friends and furthermore, enjoy Bali. As one of the top destinations in the world, our meeting in Bali will not only quench our thirst for an update in ophthalmic trauma knowledge but also provide you with a tropical beauty that is culturally unique and relaxing. Bali has been one of the most popular and perfect tourist destinations in Indonesia and has offered a unique culture, beautiful panorama, and wonderful heritage sites. Bali island has a beautiful jungle, long sandy beaches, warm blue water, crashing surf, and many tourism activities as well as attractions.

We look forward to seeing you at the 8th Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society (APOTS) Meeting in Bali, Indonesia. I hope you have a superb time during the meeting and a memorable stay in Bali, Indonesia!

With very best regards,

Yunia Irawati, MD
